Procedure

tert-Butyl 9-(3,3-difluoroazetidin-1-yl)-3-azaspiro[5.5]undecane-3-carboxylate (1.26 g, 3.66 mmol) was dissolved in hydrogen chloride in methanol (1.25 mol/l, 29 ml) and refluxed for 45 min. The solvent was removed in vacuo and the residue was dissolved in a small amount of ethanol. A solid was then precipitated by addition of acetone. The mixture was stirred for 10 min. at room temperature, then diethyl ether was added and stirring was carried out for a further 30 min. at room temperature. The resulting precipitate was filtered out with suction, washed with diethyl ether and dried in vacuo. Yield: 1.1 g (95%)
