TFA (2.5 ml) was added to a cooled (0° C.) solution of tert-butyl 2-(9-(pyridin-4-yl)-3,9-diazaspiro[5.5]undecane-3-carbonyl)-5,6-dihydroimidazo[1,2-a]pyrazine-7(8H)-carboxylate (0.86 mmol, 1.0 equiv.) in DCM (10 ml), and the mixture was stirred for 2 h at 25° C. When the reaction was complete (TLC monitoring), the solvent was removed in vacuo in order thus to yield the desired product in the form of a yellow solid. This was used directly in the next stage without further purification.
