Reaction Steps

To a suspension of 5-fluorouracil (130 mg, 1.0 mmol) in dichloromethane (5 mL), N,O-Bis-TMS-Acetamide (0.86 mL, 3.5 mmol) and TMS-Cl (0.1 mL) were added. After 2 h stirring at room temperature (clear solution) the reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure to afford bis-TMS-5-fluorouracil.
