A mixture of 1-benzoyl-3-(3-phenoxy-5-(pyridin-2-ylthio)pyridin-2-yl)thiourea (2.10 g, 4.58 mmol) and K2CO3 (3.16 g, 22.9 mmol) was refluxed in EtOH (50 mL) for 18 hours. The reaction was cooled to ambient temperature, filtered and concentrated. The residue was purified by silica gel to provide 1-(3-phenoxy-5-(pyridin-2-ylthio)pyridin-2-yl)thiourea (0.484 g, 29.8% yield).
