Reaction Steps

1-Benzoyl-3-(3-phenoxy-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyridin-2-yl)thiourea (0.230 g, 0.551 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (7 mL) and a 1M solution of sodium hydroxide (3.00 mL, 3.00 mmol) was added. The resulting mixture was heated to 50° C. and agitated for one hour. Methanol was then evaporated and the resulting slurry was filtered and solids were washed with water and dried to give 1-(3-phenoxy-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyridin-2-yl)thiourea (0.147 g, 85.2% yield) as white solid.
