To a solution of (S)-2-Bromo-1-pyridin-3-yl-ethanol (134 mg, 0.66 mmol) in THF (10 mL) was added 4N NaOH solution (8.3 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 h. The organic phase was separated, dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated. Silica gel prep TLC of the resulting residue using 99:1 CH2Cl2:MeOH as an eluant afforded 34 mg of (S)-3-Oxiranyl-pyridine as a colorless oil (42%).
