Procedure
A solution of 5-bromo-2-iodotoluene (0.15 g, 1.18 mmol) and 2-tributylstannylthiazole (0.45 g, 1.18 mmol) in THF (4 mL) in a sealed tube was degassed with a balloon of argon for 5 min. Bis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(II) chloride (1.18 mmol) was added, the reaction was capped and heated at 90° C. for 6 h. Silica gel chromatography eluting with 100% hexanes yielded 0.12 g of desired product: 1H NMR (500 MHZ, CDCl3) δ 7.95 (d, J=3.0 Hz, 1H), 7.63 (d, J=8.3 Hz, 1H), 7.50 (s, 1H), 7.44 (d, J=2.8 Hz, 2H), 2.60 (s, 3H).
