Procedure
A mixture of 3-(pyridin-3-yl)propenoic acid (10.0 g, 67 mmol), 10% palladium-activated carbon (1 g), methanol (100 mL) and ethanol (100 mL) was stirred overnight under hydrogen atmosphere. The resultant reaction mixture was filtered, evaporated, and dried to give 3-(pyridin-3-yl)propionic acid (10.2 g, quantitative).
