3,5-Dimethylpyrrole-2-carboxaldehyde (0.5 g, 4 mmole) was added to a solution of morpholine (0.35 g, 4 mmol), formaldehyde 37% (0.32 g, 4 mmol) and acetic acid (2 ml). The mixture was stired overnight at room temperature under nitrogen, then the reaction was diluted with NaHCO3 to pH 8. The aqueous solution was extracted with ethylacetate and the organic layer was dried over Mg SO4. The ethylacetate was evaporated in vacuo to give 0.4 g of pure solid.
