Procedure
Ethyl 2-fluoro-5-{2-[4-(trifluoromethyl)pyridin-3-yl]-1,3-thiazol-4-yl}benzoate (1.00 g) was suspended in a mixture of ethanol (20 ml)/1N NaOH (5 ml) and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for one hr. 1N Hydrochloric acid (5 ml) was added to the reaction mixture, and the precipitated crystals were collected by filtration and washed with water to give the title compound (0.86 g) as a pale-brown powder.
Workup
- filtrationthe precipitated crystals were collected by filtration
