Procedure
0.53 ml of triethylamine were added to a solution of 18 g of 3-hydroxy-5-dimethylamino-1,2,4-thiadiazole in 150 ml of chloroform and 11.5 g of methyl isocyanate were added thereto in small fractions. The mixture was stirred for 30 minutes at 20° C and was filtered and the filtrate was evaporated to dryness. The residue was crystallized from ethyl acetate to obtain 18.5 g of 2-(N-methylcarbamoyl)-5-dimethylamino-1,2,4-thiadiazole-3-one melting at 164° C.
