Procedure
To a solution of 80 mg (0.14 mmol) N-(3,5-bis-trifluoromethyl-benzyl)-6-(2-methoxy-phenyl)-N-methyl-4-o-tolyl-nicotinamide in 1.5 ml dichloromethane 0.17 ml of a 1M solution of boron tribromide in dichloromethane (0.17 mmol) were added dropwise at 0° C. The temperature was allowed to warm to room temperature over night. Water and a 1M aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid were added. After 5 min the mixture was neutralized by addition of 1M aqueous sodium hydroxide solution and extracted with dichloromethane. The organic layer was dried with sodium sulfate and concentrated. Column chromatography afforded 67 mg (86%) of the title compound as a white solid.
