0.700 g (1.80 mmol) of ethyl 2,4-dibromo-3-(aminocarbonylmethoxy)benzoate was dissolved in 15 ml of THF and 15 ml of water, and 0.147 g (3.70 mmol) of NaOH was added. The mixture was stirred for 12 hours at RT and concentrated completely. The residue was taken up in water and 6 N HCl was added. The precipitate which had formed was filtered off with suction and dried. 2,4-dibromo-3-(aminocarbonyl-methoxy)benzoic acid was obtained as a white solid.
