Procedure

Reaction of 3-bromo-4-fluorobenzaldehyde with methoxylamine hydrochloride as described in the preparation of compound 3-A gave the title oxime ether as a clear oil (95% yield). 1HNMR indicated a 95:5 mixture of E- and Z-isomers. 1HNMR 400 MHz (CDCl3) δ (ppm): (E-isomer) 3.97 (3H, s, OCH3), 7.12 (1H, m, aromatics), 7.48 (1H, m, aromatic), 7.82 (1H, m, aromatic), 7.97 (1H, s, CH).
