Procedure
907 mg of [2-(methylsulfonyl)-3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl]methanol, 1.31 g of carbon tetrabromide and 1.03 g of triphenylphosphine were dissolved in 5 ml of dichloromethane, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes. The solvent was evaporated, and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (ethyl acetate:hexane=1:3), to give 1.10 g of the title compound as a colorless oil.
