Procedure

A mixture of 2-(5-ethoxycarbonylpyridin-2-yl)-1-(4-fluorobenzyl)-5-methanesulfonylindole (0.68 g), potassium hydroxide (0.24 g) and methanol (45 ml) was stirred at 15 to 30° C. for 30 minutes under nitrogen atmosphere. To the reaction solution was added water and the mixture was neutralized with hydrochloric acid. The precipitated crystal was filtered off. The resulting crude crystal was recrystallized (methanol) to obtain 0.44 g of the desired. product.
