Procedure

The borane (1R,2R,6S,8R)-2,9,9-trimethyl-3,5-dioxa-4-boratricyclo[6.1.1.02,6]decane was synthesised from the diol and BH3.SMe2 and reacted with aryl halides by the procedure described in Example 26. The reaction products were identified by gc/ms. (i) 2-[(1R,2R,6S,8R)-2,9,9-trimethyl-3,5-dioxa-4-boratricyclo[6.1.1.02,6]dec-4-yl]benzonitrile
