Procedure
Using the same procedure and workup as described in Example 1, step 4, [2-(4-methoxy-phenyl)-ethyl]-carbamic acid ethyl ester (I-26a: 3 g, 13.452 mmol) in POCl3 (30 mL) was reacted with P2O5 (3.793 g, 26.905 mmol). The resulting mixture was stirred at 110° C. for 1 hour to afford the crude product. Purification by column chromatography on silica gel (40% ethylacetate in hexane) afforded 400 mg of the product (16.8% yield).
