HCl (2 M ethereal solution, 1 mL, 2 mmol) was added to a flask containing tert-butyl 2-amino-2-oxoethyl[(trans)-2-{4-[(4-cyanobenzyl)oxy]phenyl}cyclopropyl]carbamate (36 mg, 0.09 mmol) and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 24 h. After removal of the solvent, the solid was washed with Et2O (2×2 mL) and vacuum dried, rendering 29 mg of 2-[((trans)-2-{4-[(4-cyanobenzyl)oxy]phenyl}cyclopropyl)amino]acetamide hydrochloride salt (white solid, 100% yield).
