Procedure

In a dried reaction flask, the crude methyl 2-(3-chloro-4-cyanophenyl)-3-cyclopentyl-3,3a,4,5-tetrahydro-2H-pyrazolo[3,4-f]quinoline-7-carboxyl ate (prepared according to the step (2) of Example 1) (0.489 g, about 1.1 mmol) was dissolved in ethanol (22 mL). A 27% methylamine in ethanol solution (22.121 g) was added to the mixture. The resulting mixture was stirred at 60° C. for 22 h and filtered to produce a crude yellow solid, which was washed with ethanol to produce a purified product (0.436 g) in 91.3% yield.
