To a solution of methyl 4-bromo-5-chloro-2-thiophenecarboxylate (300 mg, 1.17 mmol) in THF (2 mL) was added Na2CO3 (2M, 1.76 mL, 3.52 mmol), Pd(dppf)Cl2 (86, 0.117 mmol) and 1-ethyl-5-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole (313 mg, 1.41 mmol). The reaction mixture was heated to 80° C. in a sealed tube under N2. After 2 h, the reaction mixture was concentrated under vacuum and purified on silica (EtOAc/Hex, 20-50%) to afford the title compound (0.272 g, 82%) as a light yellow syrup: LC-MS (ES) m/z=271 (M+H)+.
