Procedure
A solution of [(R)-1-benzyl-2-(trans-7-carbamoyl-3-methoxy-1,1-dimethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-naphthalen-2-ylamino)-ethyl]-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (2.20 g, 3.36 mmol) in DCM (20 mL) under an atmosphere of nitrogen was cooled to 0° C. and 4.0 M HCl in 1,4-dioxane (3.36 mL, 13.4 mmol) was added dropwise. The clear solution was stirred and allowed to warm to room temperature. After 3 h, the reaction flask was stored at −20° C. for 4 days. The reaction mixture was allowed to warm to room temperature and the solvents were evaporated under reduced pressure to give the title compound as an off-white solid (2.4 g).
