Procedure

The mixture of regioisomers N-(1-((2-(trimethylsilyl)ethoxy)methyl)-1H-imidazol-4-yl)acetamide and N-(1-((2-(trimethylsilyl)ethoxy)methyl)-1H-imidazol-5-yl)acetamide (170 mg, 0.7 mmol) from Step 1 of this Example was stirred in 70% TFA in CH2Cl2 (10 mL) at rt for 4 h. The mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure to afford N-(1H-imidazol-4-yl)acetamide (147 mg) as a yellow film which was used in the next step without further purification. LCMS (ESI) m/z 126 (M+H)+.
