To a solution of tert-butyl 4-hydroxy-1-oxo-2-(5-oxo-2,5-dihydrofuran-3-yl)-2,8-diazaspiro[4.5]decane-8-carboxylate (210 mg, 0.596 mmol) in DCM (6 mL) at 0° C. was added DBU (269 μl, 1.79 mmol), and XtalFluor-E® (409 mg, 1.79 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred overnight while warming up to rt, then quenched with aqueous NaHCO3. The organic layer was separated and the aqueous layer was extracted with DCM (30 mL). The combined organic layers were dried (MgSO4) and purified by column chromatography (0-100% EtOAc/hex) to give the title compound. LC/MS: [(M+1)]+=335;
