To a solution of tert-butyl 4-(adamantan-1-ylmethoxy)-5-cyclopropyl-2-fluorobenzoate (13.80 g, 34.45 mmol) in dichloromethane (50 mL), was added trifluoroacetic acid (25 ml). The reaction mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 2 hours and then concentrated in vacuo. The residue was titrated in methanol (50 mL), the solid was collected by filtration and dried to give the title compound as a colorless solid (10.10 g, 85%): 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 12.77 (br s, 1H), 7.29 (d, J=8.4 Hz, 1H), 6.83 (d, J=13.2 Hz, 1H), 3.59 (s, 2H), 2.04-1.92 (m, 4H), 1.71-1.58 (m, 12H), 0.91-0.83 (m, 2H), 0.59-0.52 (m, 2H).
