A mixture of (S)-3-((4-methoxybenzyl)oxy)pyrrolidine (4.50 g, 21.7 mmol) and sulfamide (2.50 g, 26.0 mmol) in dimethoxyethane (100 mL) was refluxed for 72 h. The reaction was concentrated in vacuo. Purification of the residue by column chromatography (30% to 100% gradient ethyl acetate in hexanes) afforded the title compound as a colorless solid (3.80 g, 61%): 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 7.27-7.24 (m, 2H), 6.91-6.88 (m, 2H), 6.74 (s, 2H), 4.39 (s, 2H), 4.16-4.11 (m, 1H), 3.74 (s, 3H), 3.30-3.25 (m, 1H), 3.18-3.10 (m, 3H), 2.00-1.88 (m, 2H); MS (ES+) m/z 287.2 (M+1); MS (ES−) m/z 285.3 (M−1).
