To a solution of tert-butyl 5-cyclopropyl-2-fluoro-4-((trans-4-methyl-cyclohexyl)methoxy)benzoate (5.95 g, 16.41 mmol) in anhydrous dichloromethane (28 mL) was added trifluoroacetic acid (14 mL). The mixture was stirred for 1 hour at ambient temperature, and then concentrated in vacuo. The solid was triturated with methanol to give the title compound (2.42 g, 48%):): 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ 12.8 (br s, 1H), 7.30 (d, J=8.5 Hz, 1H), 6.88 (d, J=13.1 Hz, 1H), 3.89 (d, J=6.1 Hz, 2H), 2.05-1.96 (m, 1H), 1.85-1.68 (m, 5H), 1.39-1.25 (m, 1H), 1.17-0.86 (m, 9H), 0.61-0.56 (m, 2H).
