To a solution of tert-butyl 4-((1-cyanocyclohexyl)methoxy)-5-cyclopropyl-2-fluorobenzoate (0.498 g, 1.33 mmol) in dichloromethane (15 mL) was added trifluoroacetic acid (5 mL). The solution was stirred at ambient temperature for 1 hour and the solvent was concentrated in vacuo to dryness. The residue was triturated with diethyl ether (10 mL) to afford the title compound as a colorless solid (0.32 g, 75%): 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) 12.88 (br s, 1H), 7.32 (d, J=8.4 Hz, 1H), 6.93 (d, J=12.8 Hz, 1H), 4.14 (s, 2H), 2.02-1.95 (m, 3H), 1.72-1.65 (m, 3H), 1.51-1.43 (m, 4H), 1.24-1.18 (m, 1H), 0.91-0.85 (m, 2H), 0.61-0.56 (m, 2H); MS (ES−) m/z 316.2 (M−1).
