To a 20 dram vial was added 2-chloro-5-bromopyridine (440 mg, 2.3 mmol, 1.1 equiv), 2-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-methylpropan-1-amine (350 mg, 2.1 mmol, 1.0 equiv), DIPEA (1.0 mL, 5.7 mmol, 2.7 equiv), and toluene (5 mL). The vial was heated in an oil bath to 80° C. and stirred for 12 h, concentrated, and purified by silica gel column chromatography (0-30% EtOAc/hexanes) to give 270 mg (40%) of 5-bromo-N-(2-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-methylpropyl)pyrimidin-2-amine as a white solid.
