(3RS,4RS)-4-[9-(t-Butyldimethylsilyloxy)nonynyl]-4-hydroxy-7-methoxymethyloxy-3-[4-(methoxymethyloxy)phenyl]-3-methyl-2,3-dihydro-4H-benzopyran (340 mg, 0.56 mmol) was dissolved in ethyl acetate (10 ml) and then 10% Pd/C (180 mg) was added dropwise thereto. The reaction solution was stirred for 15 hours under hydrogen atmosphere, filtered and then concentrated. The residue was subjected to column chromatography (n-hexane:ethyl acetate=4:1→1:1) to obtain 90 mg (yield: 33%) of the title compound as a colorless oil.
