Procedure

To a solution of tert-butyl (2S,5R)-2-methyl-3-oxo-5-phenylmorpholine-4-carboxylate from Step D (160 mg, 0.55 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (2 mL) at ambient temperature was added TFA (0.41 mL, 5.5 mmol). After stirring for 1 h, the reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound. MS: m/z=192 (M+1).
