A suspension of 4-chloro-7-(3-chloro-1-phenyl-propyl)-7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine (150 mg, 0.5 mmol) and Pd/C (10%, 50% water, 150 mg) in EtOAc (50 mL) was stirred under H2 atmosphere (balloon pressure) for 4 h. The reaction mixture was filtered through a celite pad, and the filter cake was washed with EtOAc (20 mL). The filtrate was concentrated and purified via flash chromatography (hexane/EtOAc), affording 7-(3-Chloro-1-phenyl-propyl)-7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine (111 mg, 83% yield).
