Procedure

A solution of 2 g of compound 112 and 3 g of imidazole in methanol was left for 18 h at room temperature. After evaporating the solvent, the residue was partitioned between water and ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over magnesium sulfate and evaporated. The residue was dissolved in ethyl acetate and filtered over silica. The compound crystallized as the hydrochloride from tetrahydrofuran. M.p. 198°-199° C.
