Procedure

(S)-Methyl 3-hydroxyhexadecanoate and 2,2,2-trichloroethyl alcohol were reacted according to a similar manner to that of Preparation 1 to give (S)-(2,2,2-trichloroethyl) 3-hydroxyhexadecanoate.
