0.5 g 2-[1-(chloroacetyl)piperidin-4-yl]-5-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-4,4-dimethyl-2,4-dihydro-3H-pyrazol-3-one (compound A1), 0.16 g 1,3-dihydro-2H-indol-2-one and 0.7 g K2CO3 in 20 ml of acetonitrile is heated to reflux for 10 h. The acetonitrile is removed in vacuo and the residue dissolved in 70 ml of ethyl acetate and washed four times with 30 ml of water. The organic layer is dried over MgSO4 and concentrated in vacuo. The title product is isolated by column chromatography (silica gel, eluent: ethyl acetate to ethyl acetate/methanol 4:1).
