N-Chlorosuccinimide (0.044 g, 0.329 mmol) to a suspension of ethyl 5-({[(1,1-dimethylethyl)oxy]carbonyl}amino)-1H-indole-2-carboxylate (0.100 g, 0.329 mmol) in dichloromethane (5 mL). Methanol (2 mL) was added to complete solution. The mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. The solvent was evaporated, the residue was dissolved in ethyl acetate and washed with water. The organic layer was dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated. The residue was purified by flash chromatography (hexane:ethyl acetate) to give the title compound (0.082 g, 74%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ ppm 11.93 (s, 1H), 9.31 (br. s., 1H), 7.80 (br. s., 1H), 7.28-7.32 (m, 2H), 4.31 (q, 2H), 1.44 (s, 9H), 1.25-1.35 (m, 3H).
