Starting from 1.5 g (5.2 mmol) of lithium (1Z)-4-ethoxy-3,4-dioxo-1-[3-(trifluoro-methyl)phenyl]but-1-en-1-olate from example 1A and 1 g (5.73 mmol) of 3-methoxyphenylhydrazine hydrochloride, 1.73 g (4.4 mmol, 85% yield of theory) of product are obtained according to the method described in example 4A and after purification on silica gel (flash chromatography).
