Reaction Steps
5-Ethoxy-4-hydroxy-2,3-dinitro-benzaldehyde (3.77 g), N,N-dimethylformamide (35 ml), K2CO3 (3.877 g) and ethyl bromide (50 ml) were refluxed 24 hours. To the reaction solution was added diethyl ether (100 ml) and then it was washed with water and 1M sodium hydroxide. The solution was dried and evaporated.
