Procedure

(3-Chloro-5,6-dimethoxy-benzo[b]thiophen-2-yl)-morpholin-4-yl-methanone (11.8 g) from Example 8 was slurried in dichloromethane (250 ml) and aluminum chloride (33 g) was gradually added. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 24 hours. Then 6M hydrochloric acid (96 ml) was gradually added. The organic layer was dried with sodium sulphate, evaporated and dried in vacuum. The product was a mixture of two compounds and was used for the next step without any purification.
