Ethylamine (2 M in tetrahydrofuran) (excess) was added to an ambient temperature solution of 2-(4-{2-[4-(2,2-dimethylpropyl)-1H-imidazol-1-ium-2-yl]-2-fluoroethyl}phenyl)pyridinium dichloride (for synthesis see Example 2) (10 mg, 0.03 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (3 mL). After stirring at ambient temperature until no further reaction (LCMS), the reaction mixture was concentrated. Preparative plate chromatography eluting with 40% methanol/ethyl acetate afforded the title compound. (M+H) found: 363.
