Procedure

To a solution of [6-(5-{1-[4-(cyclopropylsulfonyl)phenyl]-2-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)ethyl}-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)pyridin-3-yl]acetonitrile (0.200 g) in a mixed solvent of tetrahydrofuran (3 mL) and ethanol (3 mL) was added 4M aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (3 mL), and the mixture was stirred at 90° C. for 16 hr. The reaction mixture was acidified with acetic acid, and extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was washed successively with water and saturated brine, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (ethyl acetate:methanol=100:0-80:20, volume ratio) to give the title compound (0.131 g, yield 63%) as a yellow amorphous solid. MS: 495 (MH+). melting point 124-127° C.
