(1R,2S,3R,5S)-3-[2-Chloro-6-(2,2-diphenyl-ethylamino)-purin-9-yl]-5-(di-Boc-amino)-cyclopentane-1,2-diol (10.3 g, 15.50 mmol) is dissolved in dichloromethane (50 ml). TFA (25 ml) is added and the reaction mixture is stirred at room temperature. The reaction is shown to be complete by LCMS after 2 hours. The solvent is removed in vacuo to give the title compound. 1H nmr (MeOD, 400 MHz); 7.90 (s, 1H), 7.30-7.10 (m, 10H), 4.65 (m, 1H), 4.50 (m, 1H), 4.40 (m, 1H), 4.20 (m, 1H), 4.10 (m, 2H), 3.50 (m, 1H), 2.75 (m, 1H), 2.15 (m, 1H), MS (ES+) m/e 465 (MH+).
