A solution of N-{(1S,2R,3S,4R)-4-[2-((R)-3-amino-pyrrolidin-1-yl)-6-(2,2-diphenyl-ethylamino)-purin-9-yl]-2,3-dihydroxy-cyclopentyl}-2-benzyloxy-acetamide trifluoroacetate (0.022 g, 0.03 mmol) in ethanol (2 ml) under an atmosphere of Argon is treated with palladium hydroxide on carbon (0.05 g, 20% w/w carbon). The reaction mixture is placed under an atmosphere of hydrogen and stirred at room temperature for 30 hours and then filtered through Celite™. The filtrate is concentrated in vacuo and purification of the crude by reverse phase column chromatography (Isolute™ C18, 0-100% acetonitrile in water −0.1% TFA) yields the title product.
