Sulfamethazine (105 mg, 0.38 mmol) and diphenylchloromethane (77 μl, 0.38 mmol) were dissolved in 3 ml pyridine. Solution was stirred and refluxed overnight. The reaction mixture was evaporated to dryness and dissolved to 1 M NaOH. Product was precipitated with 1 M acetic acid. Precipitation cycle was repeated for three times to give white crystals of the title compound with a yield of 8%. MS (ESI+): m/z 467(M+Na)+, 445 (M+H)+.
