Procedure
In a 10 mL round bottom flask, 3-aminomethyl-7-chloro-2-oxazol-2-yl-1-phenyl-1H-quinolin-4-one bis(tert-butyl-carbamate) (50 mg, 0.09 mmol) and trifluoroacetic acid (1 mL) were added to anhydrous dichloromethane (1 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hr. The mixture was concentrated to dryness to give 3-aminomethyl-7-chloro-2-oxazol-2-yl-1-phenyl-1H-quinolin-4-one trifluoroacetate salt. The intermediate was used in the next step without further purification. MS calcd. for C19H14ClN3O2 [(M+H)+] 352, obsd 352.
