A mixture of 1,1-dimethylethyl 3-(1,2,4-thiadiazol-5-yl)-5,6-dihydro[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]pyrazine-7(8H)-carboxylate (I114) (51.2 mg, 0.166 mmol) in HCl (3 ml, 99 mmol) was stirred at room temp for 45 mins (a solid came out of solution). The solvents were removed and the product was passed trough an SCX cartridge (elution with 2M NH3 in MeOH) to give desired product as a white solid in 34.6 mg.
