Procedure
A solution of methyl 3-(3-bromopropoxy)isoxazole-5-carboxylate (250 mg, 0.93 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (1.5 mL) was treated with 1 N aqueous sodium hydroxide (2.0 mL) and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 min. The mixture was concentrated in vacuo and was neutralized with 1N aqueous hydrochloric acid. The resulting precipitate was filtered and washed with water andried in vacuo to yield the pure product (230 mg, 99%). MF=C7H9BrNO4; LCMS calculated for C7H9BrNO4 (M+H)+: m/z=250.
