To a round bottom flask were added 2-{[5-[3-(dimethylamino)prop-1-yn-1-yl]-2-(trifluoromethyl)pyridin-3-yl]amino}-9-(trifluoromethyl)-5,7-dihydro-6H-pyrimido[5,4-d][1]benzazepin-6-one (0.042 g, 0.081 mmol), EtOH (5 mL), THF (1 mL), and Raney nickel (20 mg). The resulting mixture was allowed to stir under a hydrogen balloon overnight. The mixture was filtered through celite and the filtrate was concentrated. The residue was purified by column chromatography to give 2-{[5-[3-(dimethylamino)propyl]-2-(trifluoromethyl)pyridin-3-yl]amino}-9-(trifluoromethyl)-5,7-dihydro-6H-pyrimido[5,4-d][1]benzazepin-6-one (0.033 g, 78%) as a solid.
