2-(5,7-Difluoro-quinolin-6-yl)-propionic acid methyl ester (2.270 g, 9.57 mmol) in ethanol (25 mL) was added hydrazine monohydrate (3 mL, 96 mmol), and the reaction mixture was stirred at 25° C. overnight. Solvent was removed under reduced pressure, and the residue was used without further purification. 1H-NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ ppm 9.06 (s, 1H), 8.97 (dd, 1H), 8.45 (d, 1H), 7.58-7.67 (m, 2H), 4.23 (br s, 2H), 4.08 (q, 1H), 1.51 (d, 3H). LCMS (method A): [MH]+=252, tR=3.82 min.
