Procedure
A solution of trans-4-(3,5-dimethyl-pyrazol-1-yl)-cyclohexanecarboxylic acid ethyl ester (162 mg, 0.647 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (6.5 ml) and 2 M aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (3.2 ml, 6.4 mmol) was stirred at room temperature for 15 h. The pH was adjusted to 3 by addition of 2 M aqueous hydrochloric acid. The mixture was partitioned between ethyl acetate (25 ml) and water (25 ml). The layers were separated. The aqueous layer was extracted with two 25-ml portions of ethyl acetate. The combined organic layers were dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound (116 mg, 81%) as light brown solid. MS m/e: 221 ([M−H]−)
